Visited USC (Expore USC). We liked the area and campus very much. It was a short trip, visited Venice Beach (beautiful, boardwalk, lunch at Figtree) , The Grove (shopping area + Original Farmers Market). Stayed at USC Hotel, ate dinner at Thai by Trio (nice restaurant, walkable from Hotel), had coffee at Dulce Cafe (USC Village - nice!).
In 2021, USC admitted 8,884 of the 71,031 total applicants, for an admit rate of 12.5%. 3,668 of those 8,884 eventually enrolled, resulting in a 41.3% yield rate. yeah, exactly. like atleast part of those ea applicants were probably already “rejected” (tho they only got deferred bc usc doesn’t do ea rejections). so i wonder how many of the ea applicants were actually unqualified or would’ve been rejected initially (if usc had ea rejections). bc yes usc now says their acceptance rate for rd will be less than 10%, but i wonder how skewed this ...

The film director Bryan Singer famously had to apply three times to get into the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He was first turned down by both USC and SCA. He later transferred into USC but was again turned down by SCA. And then on the third effort, he got into SCA as an internal transfer.
USC is a HUGE school with 40,000 people, a lot of them graduate students. In the freshman quad area it is great to be grabbing coffee at that Starbucks or sitting out by the pond with other freshman.
