Yep the air screw should start at 1 1/2 turns out. And idle should be at about 700rpm. You will just have to adjust the idle by sound I presume you do not have a tach. You should disassemble the carb and clean it. There could be dirt blocking one of your jets.

Fist thing I noticed is the electric start did not work,I found the power wire broken at the starter, new terminal fixed that.

If the fan switch is working - the fan will only come on when the ambient air temperature is over 70 and the engine has been run for 30 minutes or more below 5 mph. It was not a necessity, it was a safety device for situations where the operator was technically abusing the engine.

I have an old 2 stroke polaris xplorer 300 that i can't get running right. It used to run great a few weeks ago. Then the starter went bad, so it sat for a week until i got the new starter in. I had to remove the beltcase and also the flywheel on the other side of the motor, so that I could get the new starter motor and gear in.It really smokes! There is an adjustment that can be made to regulate the amount of injected oil. When I bought my 2000 Xplorer 400, I had the dealer adjust it so it gets a little more oil than is called for in the service manual.
