An AR-15 consists of two main sections: the upper receiver parts, and the lower receiver parts. The two parts are held together by two pins. When the two pins are both pushed out, the parts are separated. If the pin on the rearmost side is pushed out, the upper receiver tilts forward to allow for field cleaning.
