Like what I said before, its normal mode will only scale the skill stat while its blood mode will only use bloodtinge stat. The Chikage will want 50 bloodtinge to truly shine. Level up to 30 strength, put points into vitality and endurance, and faceroll the game with hunter's axe until you reach cainhurst and get chikage. Get minimum required skill (14) to use the chikage, start pumping points into bloodtinge all the way to 50. Now you can use low-scaling (but very strong) strength weapons (such as the axe), cannon ...In my opinion the absolute best starter weapon is the saw cleaver. I started my first character with the axe, and just couldn't get into the moveset. After spending probably 5 hours stuck in yarhnam I made a new character with the cleaver and something just clicked. That's my opinion of this weapon is that the range is sacrificed with speed so it requires a different mindset/gameplan.
