We picked up a lightly used 2022 GC 4xe (~6500mi) for my wife in September of 2023 as a replacement for her 2013 Ford Edge with 200k mi. All was well for the first 3 months until just shy of 10k mi. When the engine first comes on, it will run in series hybrid mode where it idles around 1500 rpm and loads the engine up with the generator to preheat the catalytic converter. I fell into the same trap I tell my customers. Until I see it in a KZ status I don't like to discuss delivery, So what did I do I opened my big keyboard and shot off what was going on before the status was upgraded, higher up in the alphabet. I think it helps reduce road noise from the tires. I drove through some sloppy road conditions last week, then took the 4xe to the car wash, and the wells cleaned up just fine.
