East Germany was intially armed with weapons of Soviet and WW2 German origin. The K98's, Mp-40's, Mp-44's all had the leather inch wide sling. When the East Germans came out with the Mpik they intially used a simplified inch wide leather sling. This further got simplified by making it out of webbing and just having the two simple buckles.

The muzzle brake is a clone (CNC warrior type84 knockoff, but in 7.62, sold by dissident arms and others), sling is chinese w/ an HK clip.If I remember correctly there were about 120,000 to 130,000 AK-74's made by the DDR.
