Daeran can wear hide armor of elemental carnage and all other damage increasing option seems to be available for both. Ember can wear robe of arcane annilation to compensate this, but it's only available for certain paths. Sosiel has a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ build (medium armor focus lol). Daeran also has life mystery, which is optimal for healing. That said, cleric is still good. I don't think I'd ever want my supporters near the frontline, though. Personally I ran with Daeran and he worked fine for me. The most annoying part is his curse.
