And the shaft has a hex cut on it for a close fit to the gear.There are a few good write ups on the Rockwell metal lathe on the 'net. Reports are that parts ARE NOT available - but that is not an insurmountable hurdle. The nice thing about a lathe is that it is the machine that can duplicate itself. I'm attempting to reduce faceplate runout on an old Rockwell Delta wood lathe. The spindle has a #2 morse taper for centers and a 1-8 thread for faceplates and chucks. The 0.006" runout at the spindle face translates into significant wobble on a 10" faceplate so I would like to true the spindle face at the end of the 1-8 threads.
