John deere 4020 problems.

#1. My new 4020 has some hydraulic issues. The steering and brakes work good, but the remotes are very slow and will barely lift anything. First I checked the priority valve to see if it was stuck, but it was moving fine. Then we pulled the stroke control valve, which was stuck. Make sure the surfaces are clean and I roughed them up with some really coarse sandpaper so that the JB weld had something to bite. I have had them on for 6 months and so far so good. C. Feb 14, 2021. #1. Directly behind the oil pressure gauge is a small hole in the governor housing. Oil will go through that hole and run down a trough to the oil tube. Remove the oil pressure gauge and take a small stiff piece of wire and you can unclog the hole. I had the same issue with a 37 A. It takes some. patience but it can be done. OP.4020 starting problems. My '64 4020, has issues with not turning over fast enough to start. Reasonably new starter, new batteries 550 cca, new cable clamps. Had a mech. look at it, and came down to ground strap corrosion. Installed new ground strap, (24v pos. ground system) connected right to diff bolt, after filing to clean metal.

If not check wiring, regulator, grounds, terminals, cables or pull generator and have it bench tested.
