Going onto the CLMRN also eliminates the whole "wait til you get closer to patch" type of problem. It is a great scanner for what you are looking to do. I had no need for it since I have 2 SDS200s and an SDS100. It never gave me any problems with reception. I loaded the CLMRN into it and just locked out everything except Troop I. Just a suggestion Manny
