It is on a 1989 2wd Chevy Astro. It has had a rough life, the house part has had leaks in the past causing the previous owner to gut it. The exterior paint has been stripped to the aluminum. The rear window has been removed and hatch has been put in its place. A trim ring can be made from aluminum stock or steel, it isn't welded to the roof, nothing is, there is no welding. The trim ring is glued down and riveted you can get a rubber seal material at a trim shop. Cutting the roof out is pretty simple, redesigning the structural integrity of the roof framing isn't so simple.
